Best Lake Garda Bike Hire in 2027

Nine bike rental shops around Lake Garda, from Torbole and Riva to Peschiera and Desenzano, with what they rent and published day prices.

Lake Garda is one of the easiest places in Italy to arrive without a bike and be riding within the hour. The north end around Riva, Torbole and Arco is a cycling resort in its own right, with a shop on almost every corner and everything from basic city bikes to full-suspension e-mountain bikes. The rest of the lake has fewer shops but the same pattern: a flat path nearby, a hill behind, and e-bikes to make the hill optional. Once you have wheels, our guide to the best Lake Garda bike rides tells you where to point them.

Every shop below is a real rental business whose own website we opened in October 2026. We list what each one says it rents and, where the shop publishes them, its day prices. We have not hired from all nine and we do not claim to have, so the ranking rests on things you can check: range of bikes, whether prices are published, location relative to the good riding, and coverage of kids’ bikes and extras. Prices are the shops’ 2026 figures and may rise for 2027. No shop paid to be listed.

  1. Our top pick

    Best overall

    #1 Velolake, Torbole

    • Torbole sul Garda · Torbole sul Garda, Via Matteotti 85, on the cycle path
    • €€€€

Velolake has the widest published range on the lake and the most transparent price list. Its main shop is at Via Matteotti 85 in Torbole, right on the cycle path towards Riva, and it lists further rental points in Riva del Garda, Malcesine, Bardolino, Peschiera, Salò and Moniga, which makes it useful wherever you are staying.

The 2026 one-day prices start at €21 for a city or trekking bike and €21 for a hardtail mountain bike, with e-trekking bikes at €36, hardtail e-MTBs from €42, full-suspension e-MTBs from €52 and road bikes from €46. Children are well covered: kids’ mountain bikes are €16 a day and there is a kids’ e-bike at €36, plus child seats and a two-seat trailer as extras. Prices per day drop on rentals of two days or more.

Note that helmets and locks are charged separately (€5 and €2 a day), so add those when comparing. The Torbole shop lists 08:00 to 19:00 from mid-March to 10 November, with shorter winter hours; the outlying shops close for winter. For where to ride from the door, see our guide to Torbole.

    What we love

    • Widest published range, city bikes to e-enduro
    • Rental points on every shore
    • Kids' bikes, kids' e-bike, seats and trailers
    • Multi-day discounts
  2. Best on a budget

#2 Cicli Pederzolli, Riva del Garda

Pederzolli is a traditional bike shop on Viale dei Tigli in Riva with the lowest published prices we found at the north end. A city bike is €6 for two hours or €11 for a day, and a hardtail mountain bike €12 for two hours or €20 a day, or up to seven days for €119. E-bikes are €34 a day for an e-city or hardtail e-MTB and €45 for a full-suspension model.

The range is narrower than at the big rental centres and the website does not mention children’s bikes, so ask before you turn up with a family. You leave an identity document and your accommodation address when you collect. The shop lists opening hours of 09:00 to 12:00 and 15:00 to 18:30, so it is shut over lunch.

It is a good match for the flat ride to Torbole and up the Sarca valley to Arco, which needs nothing more than a city bike. That route is in our bike rides guide.

    What we love

    • City bikes from €11 a day
    • Two-hour rates for a short spin
    • E-bikes from €34 a day
    • Closed at lunchtime
  3. Best in Arco

    #3 Bike Shop Giuliani, Arco

    • Arco · Arco, Via Bruno Galas 29/A
    • €€€€

Giuliani is a sales, repair and rental shop on Via Bruno Galas in Arco, a few minutes inland from the lake at the foot of the climbing crags. Its rental page lists city bikes from €10, hardtail mountain bikes from €25, gravel bikes from €30, e-trekking and hardtail e-MTBs from €38 and full-suspension e-MTBs from €50, with online booking by model and size.

Families do well here: there is a kids’ mountain bike from €10 and a kids’ e-MTB from €30, which is rare. The page shows “from” prices without spelling out the duration, so confirm the day rate for your dates when you book.

Arco is the best starting point for the traffic-free Sarca valley path and for the harder mountain-bike routes above the valley. Our guide to Arco covers the town.

    What we love

    • Kids' mountain bikes and a kids' e-MTB
    • Gravel bikes as well as MTB and e-bikes
    • Online booking by model and size
    • On the Sarca valley path
  4. Best on the east shore

    #4 Xtreme Malcesine

    • Malcesine · Malcesine, Via Navene Vecchia 10
    • €€€€

Xtreme is a bike and mountain-bike shop on Via Navene Vecchia in Malcesine, below Monte Baldo. It publishes a full table: per day, a city bike is €15, a trekking bike €20, a hardtail mountain bike €25, a full-suspension bike €35, gravel and road bikes €30, an e-bike €45, a full-suspension e-bike €60 and a kids’ bike €12. Half days (five hours) are cheaper, and day rates fall from three days.

The shop asks you to reserve a few days ahead by phone or email and to leave an identity document until you bring the bike back. That advance booking matters in summer, when Malcesine is full and the shop is the obvious choice for anyone planning to ride down from the cable car.

The lakefront path north and south of town is easy; Monte Baldo is not. See the Monte Baldo descent in our bike rides guide and our Malcesine guide before you commit.

    What we love

    • Full price table published
    • Road, gravel, MTB and e-bikes
    • Kids' bikes from €12 a day
    • Reserve a few days ahead
  5. Best for the Mincio path

#5 Italy Bike Hub, Peschiera del Garda

Italy Bike Hub, also known as Garda Bike Hub, is the specialist at the south end, on Via Bell’Italia in Peschiera with free parking for customers. It is set up for the flat cycle path that follows the River Mincio south towards Borghetto and Mantua, and it runs a bike shuttle for people and bikes, so you can ride one way and be driven back.

Published day prices are €16 for a city or trekking bike, €12 for a kids’ bike, €20 for a mountain bike, €30 for an e-city bike, €35 for an e-trekking bike, €40 for a road bike or hardtail e-MTB and €55 for a full-suspension e-MTB. A Croozer child trailer is €14 a day and there is a kids’ e-MTB at €35. Weekly rates are listed too.

City bikes need no deposit; for other types the shop holds €500 on a credit card. Delivery to your accommodation can be arranged by reservation. The Mincio route is one of the best family rides on the lake and is described in our bike rides guide.

    What we love

    • Built around the Mincio cycle path
    • Bike shuttle for one-way rides
    • Kids' bikes and child trailers
    • Free customer parking
  6. Best for road and gravel riders

    #6 Carpentari, Torbole

Carpentari has been a cycling shop in Torbole since 1970 and is now a Cube rental centre, with mountain, road, gravel, trekking, city, youth and e-bikes all listed. It has two premises on Via Matteotti, the main store at number 95 and a second at number 72.

The website does not publish a rental price list, which is why it sits below shops that do; you will need to ask for a quote. What it offers instead is a proper bike shop behind the rental desk, with workshop, clothing and parts, which matters if you are particular about fit or are riding a lot of kilometres.

It is the natural stop for road riders heading for the climbs above the north end. For gentler options from the same door, read our Torbole guide.

    What we love

    • Cycling shop in Torbole since 1970
    • Cube road, gravel, MTB and e-bikes
    • Youth bikes listed
    • No prices online, ask for a quote
  7. Best for the Limone cycle path

    #7 Bike Rental Limone

Bike Rental Limone is on Via IV Novembre in Limone sul Garda and both sells and rents. Its site lists KTM e-trekking bikes with Bosch motors, KTM e-mountain bikes, an e-city bike with a rear-rack battery and puncture-resistant tyres, plus ordinary mountain and city bikes.

Prices were not shown on the page we opened, only a link to its rates, so check before you go, and ask about children’s bikes, which the site does not mention. Limone is steep, and an e-bike makes sense here in a way it does not in flatter towns.

The reason to hire in Limone is the cycle path bolted to the cliff north of town, the best-known short ride on the lake. It is first in our bike rides guide, and the town is covered in our Limone sul Garda guide.

    What we love

    • In town for the cliffside cycle path
    • E-trekking, e-MTB and e-city bikes
    • Ordinary city and mountain bikes too
    • Prices not published on the home page
  8. Best in Desenzano

#8 Cava Bike, Desenzano del Garda

Cava Bike is a sales, service and rental shop on Via Annunciata in Desenzano. Its rental page gives starting prices by category: city bikes from €12, trekking and mountain bikes from €17, e-bikes from €30, children’s bikes from €10 and a bike trailer from €15. It rents by the hour as well as by the day, so ask what the “from” price covers.

Opening hours are listed as Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00 to 12:00 and 14:30 to 18:30, closed on Mondays. Sunday opening is handy; the lunch break is not, so time your return.

From Desenzano the easy riding is along the lakefront towards Sirmione and inland through the Lugana vineyards. Our guide to Desenzano del Garda has more.

    What we love

    • Open Sundays, closed Mondays
    • E-bikes from €30
    • Children's bikes and trailers
    • Hourly as well as daily hire
  9. Best for e-bikes in the Valtenesi

#9 Garda Bike Center, Manerba del Garda

Garda Bike Center is on Via Trevisago in Manerba, in the Valtenesi hills between Desenzano and Salò. It is an e-bike specialist with higher-end machines and prices to match: a Focus full-suspension e-mountain bike or a Focus e-road bike is €65 a day, and a Gazelle e-city bike €45 a day. Half days and two-day rates are offered on the e-MTB.

The site also shows a road bike, a hardtail mountain bike and two junior models without prices, so ask if you need those. This is rolling wine country with short, sharp climbs, which is exactly where a good e-bike earns its fee.

Pair a day here with the Valtenesi wine loop in our bike rides guide and the cellars in our vineyards guide.

    What we love

    • Focus e-MTB and e-road bikes
    • E-city bikes at €45 a day
    • In the Valtenesi wine hills
    • Junior bikes listed, price on request

Good to know

How much does it cost to hire a bike at Lake Garda?

From the 2026 price lists we checked, a basic city bike is roughly €11 to €21 a day, a hardtail mountain bike €20 to €25, an e-city or e-trekking bike €30 to €45 and a full-suspension e-mountain bike €45 to €65. Kids' bikes are €12 to €16 where prices are published. Most shops discount from the second or third day. Check whether helmet and lock are included, because some shops charge for them.

Where is the best place to hire a bike on Lake Garda?

The north end. Riva del Garda, Torbole and Arco have the most shops, the widest range and the best mix of flat paths and mountain trails. In the south, Peschiera is the place for the Mincio path and Desenzano for the Lugana lanes. Our town guides to Riva del Garda and Torbole explain how the north end fits together.

Do I need to book bike hire in advance?

For an ordinary city bike on a weekday, usually not. For e-bikes, children's bikes, trailers, road bikes in a specific size, or anything in July and August, book a few days ahead; Xtreme Malcesine asks for exactly that. Several shops, including Velolake and Giuliani, take bookings online by model and size, which removes the guesswork.

Should I hire an e-bike or a normal bike?

A normal bike is fine for the flat lakefront paths, such as Riva to Torbole or Peschiera to Bardolino. Choose an e-bike if you are leaving the shore, because almost every road away from the water climbs steeply, or if your group has mixed fitness. E-mountain bikes are heavy and fast, so less confident riders should stick to e-trekking models. Our bike rides guide says which routes need which bike.

Can I hire children's bikes, child seats and trailers?

Yes, but not everywhere. Of the shops on this list, Velolake, Giuliani, Xtreme Malcesine, Italy Bike Hub and Cava Bike all publish children's bikes, Velolake and Italy Bike Hub list trailers, and Velolake lists child seats. Stock is limited, so reserve. For a first family ride, the lakeside path between Peschiera and Lazise and the Mincio path are flat and largely traffic-free.

What do I need to bring to hire a bike?

Photo identification and a payment card. Pederzolli and Xtreme Malcesine both say they keep an identity document or take your accommodation address during the rental, and Italy Bike Hub holds €500 on a credit card for anything other than a city bike. Ask what happens if the bike is stolen or damaged, and use the lock every time you stop.

Is bike hire available in Garda and Bardolino?

Yes. Velolake lists a rental point at Via Santa Cristina 23 in Bardolino, open mornings and late afternoons from April to early November. From there the flat lakefront path runs north to Garda and south to Lazise and Peschiera. See our guide to Bardolino for what to stop for along the way.

Can I hire a bike in winter?

At the north end, yes, with fewer shops and shorter hours. Velolake keeps its Torbole shop open in winter on reduced hours but closes its other rental points from early November until spring. Smaller shops around the lake often shut or sell only. Phone ahead between November and March, and check our Lake Garda weather guide for what conditions to expect.

How do you choose the bike hire shops on this list?

We only include rental shops whose own website we opened and read, and we rank them on verifiable things: the range of bikes, whether prices are published, value, provision for children, and how well the location suits the riding nearby. We have not hired from every shop and do not claim to have tested each one. No shop pays to appear, there are no affiliate links, and we will recheck prices each season.
