Families with children who want pools, a beach and Gardaland within a short drive

Camping Bella Italia is the big lakeside holiday park on the western edge of Peschiera del Garda, and the number one site on our list of the best Lake Garda camping. This page sets out what you get, what the rules are and who should book somewhere else.

Everything below comes from the campsite’s own pages, the ACSI listing and OpenStreetMap, checked in October 2026. Where the campsite does not publish a figure, we say so instead of guessing.

Our verdict

Bella Italia is a resort more than a campsite: pitches of up to 90 m², four mobile home types, bungalows, apartments and a 57-room hotel around an aquapark with five pools, four restaurants and a beach a few metres from the pitches. Book it if you have children and want everything on site with Gardaland about 5 km away by road.

The catches are firm rules. Pets are not allowed, nor are motorcycles or electric scooters, the barriers are shut to cars from 23:00 to 7:00, and the pools close in mid-September even though the site stays open longer.

What Camping Bella Italia is like

The ACSI listing puts the site at 32 hectares with around 300 touring pitches, which makes it one of the largest on the south shore. Alongside the pitches there are mobile homes, bungalows, apartments and a hotel with 57 rooms. The campsite’s own description is a list of facilities rather than a mood: an aquapark, four restaurants, five bars, a supermarket, a greengrocer, an ice cream parlour, a bazaar and newsstand, a medical service at set times and a chemist.

Entertainment is part of the offer. The site runs a Mini and Junior Club, evening shows, a mini-disco and organised sport. If you want a campsite where the loudest thing after dark is a cicada, look at the smaller sites on our camping list instead.

Pitches, mobile homes and other accommodation

Pitches are flat, tree-lined and a few metres from the beach, up to 90 m² according to the campsite (its FAQ says 80 to 90 m²), each with a 16-amp supply, water and drainage. The limit is six people per pitch whatever their age. A camper and a tent can share one pitch and barbecues are allowed. There are six sanitary blocks with hot showers and baby rooms, bathrooms for disabled guests, paid washing machines and dryers, and a free camper service point. You pick your pitch when you arrive, from 13:00, and must be off it by 13:00 on the day you leave or pay for another night.

The four mobile home types all sleep six: Girasole Suite, Iris and Dalia at 30 m² and Girasole at 32 m². The campsite says all accommodation has air conditioning and heating. Keys are guaranteed from 17:00 (15:00 for Girasole Suite and Dalia) and check-out is between 8:00 and 10:00. Linen and towels are included only in some units, among them Girasole Suite, Iris and Dalia; for the rest you bring your own or hire them.

Pools, beach and when to go

The aquapark has five large pools with slides for children and adults, a children’s area called Bel Island with geysers and water games, and a semi-Olympic pool. Lifeguards are on duty and there are water aerobics sessions. A swim cap is compulsory in one of the pools only, so pack one to be safe.

The beach, which the campsite calls Bel Beach and describes as sandy, has parasols and deckchairs for an extra charge. For public alternatives nearby, including Peschiera’s Lido ai Pioppi, see our Lake Garda beaches map.

The pools open around Easter and close in mid-September, depending on the weather and the management’s call. That makes May, June and the first half of September the sweet spot: pools open, site less crowded than in August. From mid-September you still have the beach, the restaurants and Peschiera on foot, but not the aquapark. Our Lake Garda weather guide has the month-by-month picture.

Prices and how to save

Bella Italia does not publish a price list. Rates come from the booking engine for your dates, tourist tax is extra, and the balance is paid on site the day before you leave. If you cancel less than 30 days before arrival the deposit is kept, and if you arrive late or leave early you still pay for the full booked period.

The way to save is the free-night offers the campsite advertises. In 2026 these were 4=3, 7=5, 7=6 and 7=4 deals, each tied to particular periods. The extras with fixed prices are in the table on this page.

Getting there and parking

The entrance is on Via Bella Italia, off the lake road west of Peschiera. By OpenStreetMap routing from the middle of the site, Peschiera del Garda station is roughly 2.5 km on foot and about 3 km by road, and the old town is about 1.5 km along the lake. The site is large, so add or subtract a few minutes depending on where you are pitched. Our Lake Garda trains guide covers the services that stop at Peschiera, and the Verona Airport to Lake Garda page covers arriving by air.

Each pitch or unit may keep one car on site. A second car parks free in the entrance car park next to reception. After 23:00 the barriers are closed and cars stay in the entrance car park until 7:00; night guards hand over keys to late arrivals.

With children, and Gardaland

This is the reason most people book. The Mini and Junior Club, mini-disco, slides and the splash area cover most ages. Gardaland is about 5 km away by road, around ten minutes by car on OpenStreetMap routing, and reception gives out bus and train times and can help with discounted tickets for local attractions.

For the rest of the theme parks and days out on this shore, our best Lake Garda attractions list is the place to start.

Where it is

Good to know

Does Camping Bella Italia allow dogs?

No. The campsite's own rules say pets are not allowed, on pitches or in accommodation. Some third-party listings say otherwise, so go by the campsite. If you are travelling with a dog, Camping La Rocca in Bardolino takes them on every pitch; see our La Rocca review.

When is Camping Bella Italia open?

The campsite does not print its season dates on its website. The ACSI listing gives 20 March to 1 November, and the booking engine shows which nights can be booked. The pools have a shorter season, from around Easter to mid-September.

How far is Camping Bella Italia from Gardaland?

About 5 km by road, roughly ten minutes by car according to OpenStreetMap routing. Reception can give you bus times. Our Gardaland guide covers tickets and how to plan the day.

Can you walk from Peschiera station to Camping Bella Italia?

Yes, if you travel light. It is roughly 2.5 km on foot from Peschiera del Garda station to the middle of the site by OpenStreetMap routing, around half an hour. With luggage or children a taxi is easier. Train options are in our Lake Garda trains guide.

How big are the pitches at Camping Bella Italia?

Up to 90 m², with a 16-amp electricity supply, water and drainage. The maximum is six people per pitch. You cannot reserve a particular pitch: you choose one when you arrive, from 13:00.

Does Camping Bella Italia have a beach?

Yes. The pitches are a few metres from the lake, and the campsite describes its Bel Beach as a sandy beach with parasols and deckchairs, which cost extra. Most Lake Garda beaches are pebble, so a sandy one is unusual.

Is there Wi-Fi at Camping Bella Italia?

There is free Wi-Fi, but only in some areas of the site. Do not count on a signal at every pitch or mobile home.
