Lake Garda weather · July
July is the hottest, sunniest month at Lake Garda: 30 °C afternoons, ten hours of sun and water warm enough for long swims.
July is high summer in every sense. If your holiday is about being in and on the water, it is hard to beat. If you want to walk, sightsee or have space, read the caveats first.
Yes for a beach and water holiday; less so for anything strenuous. July has the highest average temperature of the year (30.4 °C by day, 18.9 °C at night), the most sunshine at about ten hours a day, and the fewest rainy days of the summer, about five.
The lake reaches roughly 23 °C. The costs are heat in the middle of the day, peak prices and busy roads, boats and beaches. We rate it 4 out of 5.

In July we go where the air moves. Riva and Torbole get the Ora every afternoon. Tremosine and San Zeno di Montagna sit high above the lake, where nights are cooler than on the shore.

Hot and bright. By late morning the south shore is properly hot and there is little wind to help. Nights of 19 °C are warm enough that air conditioning is worth checking for when you book.
The north is the comfortable end. Garda Trentino describes the Ora as strongest in high summer, and from around noon it turns the top of the lake into a natural fan. That is why windsurfers and sailors gather at Torbole, and why a lakeside table in Riva is pleasant at 2pm when one in the south is not.
Split the day. Before 11am: towns, walks and the Monte Baldo cable car. Midday: shade, lunch, a siesta. After 3pm: the water. The beaches are at their best now, and so are boat rentals and boat tours.
For children, the LEGOLAND Water Park inside Gardaland comes into its own in this heat.
The average daily high is 30.4 °C, the highest of the year, and the average low is 18.9 °C. Individual days go well above the average, most often in the south. See the month-by-month overview to compare.
About 23 °C. The north-shore readings we use show 22.8 °C in July and 23.2 °C in August. Sheltered, shallow bays in the south can feel warmer.
It is busy, with the second half busier than the first. Ferries, car parks and beaches fill by late morning. Starting early and staying in the north or up in the hills makes a real difference.
On about five days, the fewest of the summer, for a total of 63 mm. Rain nearly always means a thunderstorm, sometimes a violent one, followed by clear weather.
