Lake Garda weather · June
June gives Lake Garda long, warm days of 28 °C, nine hours of sunshine and a full summer timetable, before the peak-season crowds arrive.
June is summer without the squeeze. The weather is close to July’s, the days are the longest of the year, and until schools break up there is still room on the beaches and boats.
Yes, it is our pick for a first visit. Highs average 28.1 °C and lows 16.9 °C, with nine hours of sunshine a day.
Ferries run the full summer timetable, Gardaland and the cable car are in season, and the campsites and lidos are open. The lake is still warming, at about 18.5 °C, so swimming is refreshing more than warm, and there are seven or eight days with a shower or thunderstorm. We rate it 5 out of 5.
Bardolino’s rosé wine festival on the lakefront, with tastings from local wineries, music and Sunday-night fireworks. Entry is free; tastings are paid.
The classic car race from Brescia. In 2026 the cars came through Desenzano to Sirmione’s castle and left towards Peschiera. The route changes each year.
Concerts in the open-air amphitheatre of the Vittoriale, above the lake.
With the boats at full strength you can base yourself anywhere on the water. Malcesine and Limone face each other across the narrow north. Sirmione is best seen now, before the peak-season day trippers. Torri del Benaco is quieter and has the car ferry to the west shore.

Warm from breakfast to late evening. Nights of 17 °C mean you can sit out after dinner without a jacket most days. It is hot enough for the beach and still cool enough to walk in the morning.
Storms are part of the month. They usually build over the mountains in the afternoon and clear by evening. In the north, the Ora now blows reliably from around noon, which keeps Torbole and Riva cooler than the still southern bays.
Use the boats. A day linking two or three towns is the classic June outing; our ferry routes map shows what connects. Then pick a beach from our beach guide for the afternoon.
Families should do the parks before the Italian school holidays fill them: Gardaland and, once open for the season, the LEGOLAND Water Park.
The average high is 28.1 °C and the average low 16.9 °C. Heat of 30 °C or more is common in the second half of the month, especially in the south.
Yes, though the water is fresh. It was 18.5 °C on the north shore in June in the readings we use, rising quickly towards the end of the month. Shallow southern beaches warm first; see our beach guide.
June has longer days and slightly hotter afternoons. September has warmer water and the wine harvest but more rain. For swimming choose September; for long evenings choose June.
Less than in July and August. The first half is comfortable. From mid-June, when Italian schools have finished, weekends are busy and popular hotels sell out.
Yes. June averages seven to eight days with rain, mostly as afternoon or evening storms. They pass quickly, but get off the water and off the mountain when one is building.
